Old and new working together

We use a variety of sign-making techniques here to produce our sign range. This guide gives a little bit of an insight into the methods we use and the types of signs we can produce. From traditional screenprinting to wide-format digital printing.

Screen printing

Screen printing is ideal for high-volume printing. It is a technique where a mesh screen is used to transfer ink onto a substrate.  Part of the mesh screen is blocked by a negative of the design making it impermeable to the ink. The making of a screen is quite involved. Once the screen is made it can be reused over and over. We screen print stock signs onto plastic and metal plates.

Vinyl signs

Another of the more traditional sign-making techniques is cut vinyl signs. We use cut vinyl for our signs with application tape (transfer type signs). These usually comprise cut letters, numbers, or logos that are being applied to a finished surface such as plant or accommodation units on construction sites.

Cut vinyl is also used to manufacture some traffic signs. There are many types of vinyl we use and they are available in a wide variety of colours and finishes.

Digital printing

Currently, we have two digital printers which we use to produce and wide range of signs. Allowing us to print directly to different plastics, types of vinyl, metals, and banner materials.

We are able to print white ink, which not all machines can do. This allows us to reverse print onto clear materials such as acrylic, giving a high-end finish to signs.  Our machines will print text down to 2pt allowing minute details to be clear. We have a wide format roll print, ideal for printing banners, in either a mesh (wind permeable) PVC or solid (canvas) PVC. Below are some examples of the many sign types produced through digital printing.

Fabricated signs

We fabricated plastic signs for a range of purposes. These signs can have single or multiple bends. Our double bend signs shown in the photo are ideal as construction site signs for use with scaffolding.  The signs with 90-degree single bends are ideal for use above doors and can be double or single-sided.
